Daily Mail Ladies Competition

Members, Norah Craig and Julie Clerke have recently taken part in the 2020 Daily Mail Ladies Foursomes Competition.

As a result of COVID-19 the 2020 event has rolled over to 2021 but concluded last month.

In the first round, Norah and Julie were drawn against Ashbourne and were due to play in the middle of March 2020. Then, due to one player no longer being a member at Ashbourne they were eliminated, which meant automatic progression for our ladies into round 2. At the end of September they played in the second round at Uttoxeter. It was a close match on a testing course which finished with our ladies one up. Round 3 was played in the second week of May at home against two ladies from Kedleston. The weather was terrible with heavy rain, hailstones and thunder, fortunately though, there was no lightning! Norah and Julie also won this round and therefore reached the fourth round (for the first time). On Wednesday 26th May, they played at Burton upon Trent. After quite a cloudy start, the weather improved and ended in sunshine. It was another very close match but the ladies sadly lost out at the 19th.

Norah and Julie commented,
“We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We played on two lovely courses and took part in some very competitive golf.”
